Congratulations to Shackleton Explorers on Completing Their Silver DofE Expedition!

A huge congratulations to 6 Shackleton Explorers who successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Qualifying Expedition this weekend in the beautiful New Forest!

Over three days of trekking, navigating, and teamwork, our Explorers demonstrated true resilience and independence as they journeyed from Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre to Wilverley Scout Campsite, tackling a challenging and scenic route through woodland trails, heathland paths, and open countryside.

Skills, Teamwork, and Determination

Throughout the expedition, our Explorers put their navigation, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test. The group at times took a “creative detour” or two as often happens in the New Forest but they quickly recognised their mistakes, worked together, and got back on track with confidence and good humor.

These moments of self-correction and teamwork truly embodied the spirit of DofE: learning through experience, showing leadership, and supporting one another no matter what.

Weathering the Weekend

The New Forest weather kept everyone on their toes; from bursts of autumn sunshine to brisk winds and the occasional shower but nothing dampened the Explorers’ spirits. Every challenge was met with smiles, laughter, and determination!

A Journey to Remember

From setting up camp at Ferny Crofts on the first evening to their final celebratory steps into Wilverley Scout Campsite, the Explorers showed maturity, teamwork, and a real sense of adventure. Their energy, enthusiasm, and positive attitude made the weekend one to remember.

You should all be immensely proud of completing your Silver DofE Qualifier — a significant milestone that reflects your commitment, teamwork, and personal growth. We’re incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see what adventures you’ll take on next!
